A $600 property tax cut for every Surrey home, then a four year freeze

Honveer Singh Randhawa, the Conservative Party of Surrey candidate for Mayor, standing with the full council team, has announced an affordability plan aimed squarely at the tax bills that have climbed on Surrey homeowners four years running.

If this team is elected on October 17, 2026, the Conservative administration will deliver immediate, legally binding tax relief to combat the cost of living crisis hitting Surrey families: a $600 property tax reduction on every residential property, and a freeze on residential property taxes for the entire four year term of Mayor and Council.

The reason the number is $600 is simple. Between 2023 and 2026, Surrey City Council raised residential property taxes by a cumulative average of more than $600 per home. A $600 cut followed by a four year freeze wipes those increases out, returns residential property taxes to where they stood in 2022, and then holds them there while families plan around a bill that finally stops moving.

The plan is funded without cutting a single frontline community service. The money comes from three changes at city hall.

First, a forensic audit of city hall. Every municipal expense will be reviewed line by line to eliminate waste and cut the redundant layers of management that have grown around it. Residents are entitled to know exactly what their money buys today before anyone asks them for more of it.

Second, artificial intelligence across city operations. Modern AI tools will take on the administrative work that consumes staff hours today, lowering overhead and speeding up the internal processes that leave residents waiting.

Third, transparent application tracking. Residents will be able to watch the live progress of anything they file with the city, whether that is a pet licence, a renovation permit, or a building permit. No more phoning to ask where a file is sitting, and no more decisions made behind a closed door.
