How to vote in Surrey
The 2026 general local election is run by the City of Surrey, not by the campaign. The details below come from the City and from Elections BC.
General voting day

Surrey's 2026 municipal election is open to resident electors and non-resident property electors who meet the requirements below.
If you live in Surrey
- 18 years or older on general voting day
- A Canadian citizen
- A resident of British Columbia for at least six months before you register
- A resident of Surrey for at least 30 days before you register
- Not disqualified from voting by any law
If you own property but live elsewhere
- You meet the age, citizenship, and B.C. residency requirements above
- You have owned property in Surrey for at least 30 days
- You are not a resident elector of Surrey
- Only one person per property may register, with written consent of the majority of the other owners
Bring identification
Bring two pieces of identification that show who you are and where you live. At least one must carry your signature. You can register at the voting place on the day if you are not already on the voters list.

Eligible voters can vote at any one of the 52 voting locations across the city. You are not tied to the location nearest your home.
Voting early? Only 10 of the 52 locations open for advance voting on October 7, 10, 14 and 15. These are marked Advance. On general voting day, Saturday October 17, all 52 are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
